Cornèr Bank appointed Touch to develop and manage its Online Recharge platform following the successful collaboration on an earlier Cornèr Bank project with Touch and the Valora Group. Touch’s demonstrated ability to rapidly develop, customise and deploy an online payment system while meeting Cornèr Bank’s customer experience objectives under very tight timeframes was essential to the current project’s success.
Like all industries, banking has been forced to grapple with the technological advancements of the 21st century. Finance is now so much more than money, with banks and finance-related businesses around the world pumping billions into becoming technology leaders.
Founded in 1952, the private and independent Swiss banking institution Cornèr Bank has spent years pursuing several of these critical upgrades. It was the first to launch a Visa card in Switzerland in 1975, and was among the first European banking institutions to introduce Secure E-Commerce standards.
But Cornèr Bank needed to go further. It required a strong, secure digital partner to help launch an online recharge platform for two of its key payment producers.
Having already launched payment cards in Switzerland and the broader European market, Cornèr Bank sought a partner that was able to keep up with the rapid technological innovations within its own systems.
Touch was that partner.
Through its new inaugural European self-service venture, Touch developed a new online recharge platform that facilitates payments for the newly issued Instant Visa prepaid card for Apple Pay, as well as Swatch Bellamy NFC-enabled watches with prepaid functionality.
Touch was able to provide Cornèr Bank with a platform that provides a satisfying customer experience, without putting security in jeopardy. The end result? The smoothest possible banking experience.
This is a crucial point for banks. Financial products should be easy to use, intuitive, and not bogged down in details. The Touch platform gives the end user a seamless experience, while ensuring complete security in the back-end. Touch handles the detail – the customer gets all the good stuff.
Not only did the Touch system have the security necessary to facilitate a payment system for a widespread financial product, it delivered the project in an accelerated timeframe.
“Cornèr Bank appointed Touch to develop and manage its Online Recharge platform following the successful collaboration on an earlier Cornèr Bank project with Touch and the Valora Group. Touch’s demonstrated ability to rapidly develop, customise and deploy an online payment system while meeting Cornèr Bank’s customer experience objectives under very tight timeframes was essential to the current project’s success,” said Davide Rigamonti, marketing and distribution head at Cornèr Bank. The partnership between Touch and Cornèr Bank is also expected to extend into providing an omni-channel solution for reloading all Cornèr-issued VISA and MasterCard payment cards, and to expand into other geographies.
The addition of the Cornèr Bank partnership alongside others in utilities, retail, convenience retail, healthcare and government shows Touch’s platform has the ability to extend and grow beyond industry borders.
But most importantly, Touch’s advancements show it has the security, and the technical capability, to underpin the advanced financial products of the new digital economy.
